About the Centre

The Children and Youth Research Centre (CYRC) at QUT is a multidisciplinary research environment, led by the Faculty of Education and also partnered with the Faculties of Law, Health, Science and Engineering, Business, and Creative Industries.

CYRC is dedicated to enhancing the life opportunities for Australian children and young people (0 – 25 years). Our goal is to deliver innovative and high-impact research to ensure significant benefits for Australian children and youth, their families, and communities.


There are four research programs which are overseen by program leaders from Education and the partner faculties.

  • Rights and welfare of young people
  • Health, wellbeing and happiness
  • Child and youth cultures
  • Environments for work and play

Close of the CYRC

At its meeting of 20 April 2016, QUT Council resolved to approve the closure of the Children and Youth Research Centre. And so it is with a sorry heart that we say our final farewells to all who have supported and contributed to the success of CYRC.
